“EK BANGLA BANE NYARA, SONE KA BANGLA ….”

This is what a man in India in Tier II city dreams about all his life, and when he earns and can afford makes one for him. No matter what place you call home, the very word strikes a chord deep inside each of us. Home means sanctuary, the place we can rest, relax, enjoy time with friends, learn, grow and just be. (Fig 1)

Our homes say a lot about who we are and what we think  is important in life. When we purchase a home or make a home, we look for it to provide comfort, to be a place where we can feel safe and invest our hopes, dreams and wishes as a foundation for our future and we all want to start a life with a significant other, perhaps have a family, grow through life’s stages and eventually retire. Every person has their own thought and imagination about their home, it changes from person to person, with or without education, cultural background and so many factors decide upon how a monied person will have his home, every persons need for his dream home is almost different, the requirement needs and feel of house changes from city to city and state to state across the country. The bigger city's were ahead in design homes than of smaller Indian homes, so their idea of home was different and now with scarcity of land in bigger cities their houses have shrieked, whereas a wealthy person from a Tier II city,  shall be able to fulfil all his dreams of having a complete Luxurious Home/ Villa / Bungalow with all the possible amenities. The home is the centre where you spend most of your time, where you raise your family and all your memories are deeply associated with it, for most their home is an integral part of their lifestyle that is why they make every effort to pamper and Home and Luxury can be called together, whatever sized your home is “Home Sweet Home”, and so many such phrases say that Home is most dearest material thing to a Human Being, in many mythologies even for the dead, that is the reason all the movies are about love for the home by a departed soul. 

    

 Interior design trends have undergone significant and frequent changes in tier II cities of India.  However, this has not          deterred the home owners from spending a generous amount to give their residential space a make-over that matches the latest design trends.

    Today Interior Designers and their clients have greater opportunities than ever before when it comes to making their designs unique and interesting. With exposure to more accessible travel and education of their children happening in bigger cities or abroad. When their children come back after staying in those well designed functional yet eclectic houses, they had seen the ease and functionality of interior space, so they want a house similar to that.  On available materials, brands and finishes, with increased access to interior design courses, online images, blogs and interiors magazines and podcasts the choices are vast when it comes to products, manufacturers and stockists. With a tremendous increase in the number of high net-worth individuals, consumer spending has risen significantly. Indian middle class has provided a big boost to the consumer culture due to fast growth of the services sector.

There is a tremendous change in lifestyle of tier II cities in India in last two decades with economical upliftment because of industrialization, and people making money in multiples in Land in smaller cities, I give an example which is infant of me where father, had bought a land around 10000 sq.ft. in the city of Indore in 1995 for 20 Lacs has become 4 - 6 Crores today, this kind of growth in the Tier two cities have made new rich people who previously were living   a very minimalistic life with ROTI, KAPDA and MAKAAN. They want to use their money well, as well as they want to now show off their money, in smaller cities their marriages in families are also fixed considering the House scale, which Cleary indicated the worth of a man.

More importantly, in India, luxury is consumed not only by older consumers, but also by young consumers. With disposable incomes on the rise, especially among increasingly younger home-buyers, India has been witnessing a rise in demand for luxury homes, not just for their investment values, but also for their prestige value, they want much more than just four walls with a parking and a small garden. People now crave higher a matter of prestige among the peoples. “Luxury” nowadays is “Living in a quality and tasteful lifestyle with a sense of culture without ostentation”. If one word most concisely defines luxury design, it’s “customization. (Fig 3)

  It all started with Tier II city people initially going to Delhi and Mumbai to buy luxurious interior elements like furniture, lights, Rugs, Veneers, Glass etc in 1900 , later in the entire country people found about proposition of buying Furniture from Chinese market where an Indian agent could send anything that you choose there in two months time and you do not have to worry about import license or any customs, there was a plethora of design with all kind of quality depending on their pockets. Right now entire world has explored and now Tier II city Home owners buy furniture from Italy, Bali , Germany , France as well as china and get the latest trends in their home, but it all started with China initially. This brought a big change in Luxury quotient. As now they had the worlds best brands at their disposal and buying this was also no less than a vacation for the entire family and one could choose as per his or her budget.

The exposure and affordability allows the individuals to define their thoughts, their lifestyles and their homes even better. People are getting increasingly globalized and more aware of the good things. They want it in their own lives too. People are hiring architects and designers from other cities and countries too depending on how deep their pockets are, to bring in with both exposure value and a label value attached to their designer, bringing in the most luxurious built space.

Since the design budget is high or limitless in luxury interior design, the designer has many options in choosing elegant lighting, furniture, flooring, cabinetry, fabrics and art, they also go into selecting themes for their homes. Luxury home decor can be minimalist and modern, or consist of displays of collectibles and artful arrangements. Taste and class is not defined totally by “expensive”- even high-end, minimal- modern with impeccable design detail and better fit to finish, with the best fit out go on to define “luxury” too. Where interior design is concerned, there is no set formula for how to produce luxurious surroundings, but the Aspirational elements that in totality gives a luxurious space. Therefore, i shall study the use of these elements further in an illustrative way.
